The Minnesota Lynx too on the New York Liberty on Sunday night with a chance to clinch the Western Conference as well as reclaim the best record in the league throne. It was an extremely close game that saw both teams build decent leads only to have the other team make a run and come back.
The Lynx made a huge run late to cut the Liberty lead to two points with just under two minutes remaining in the game, but failed to take advantage of their lockdown defense, turning the ball over on four of their last five possessions and letting the Liberty steal a 75-71 win on Minnesota’s home floor. With the win, the Liberty clinched the Eastern Conference and moved just a win away from clinching the best record in the WNBA.
Despite the loss, there were many highlights and great moments throughout the game. For those that may have missed the game, they can check out some of the best moments from Sunday night’s contest with this game’s photo gallery.

Despite playing solid defense on Liberty guards, Lynx guard Anna Cruz struggled on the offensive end, finishing with just six points on 2-of-8 (25 percent) shooting in 34 minutes of play.

Lynx center Sylvia Fowles entered Sunday night’s contest having achieved a double-double in her past five games; Fowles finished just one rebound shy of making it a sixth, finishing with 19 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots.

Making just her third start for the Lynx this season, guard Renee Montgomery played well on Sunday night, finishing with 14 points, seven assists and two steals.

Already one of the league’s leading scorers, Liberty guard Epiphanny Prince showed such scoring prowess on Sunday night, finishing with a team-high 18 points to go with her three rebounds and six assists.

After taking an incidental elbow to the face in last Friday night’s game, Maya Moore, black-eye and all, came out to lead Minnesota, scoring 23 points, grabbing five rebounds, dishing out two assists and snatching two steals in the Lynx loss.
