Can we go home yet? The Minnesota Lynx will surely be glad to get home and stay there for awhile. The Lynx were in New York Friday night taking on the league-leading Liberty and, despite great games from forward Maya Moore and center Sylvia Fowles, Minnesota suffered defeat, losing 81-68. Despite holding just a five point lead at the half, the Liberty used their defense in the third quarter – holding Minnesota to just 11 points in the quarter – to pull away from the Lynx.
The Lynx have now lost four of their last five games yet still hold a two game lead over the Phoenix Mercury for first place in the Western Conference.
After spending seemingly the month of August on the road, the Lynx now return home to Target Center where they will play four-straight games starting with Sunday’s game against the Mercury.
The game was a tough contest between the teams with the two best records in the league and for most of the game, both teams played like it. There were many highlights and great plays and for the fans that may have missed it, they can check out some of these great photos from Friday night’s action with this game’s photo gallery.

Lynx forward Asjha Jones played big minutes off the bench for Minnesota, playing 21 minutes and finishing with seven points, two rebounds and two assists in Minnesota’s 81-68 loss to the New York Liberty.

Two of the best centers in the game faced off in a huge playoff-esque game Friday night in New York. Liberty center Tina Charles got her team the win, finishing with 18 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Lynx center Sylvia Fowles had a great game for her team as well though, finishing with 18 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots.

Liberty guard Epiphany Prince led New York scoring 22 points while adding four rebounds and two assists.

Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen (13) could only watch as her teammates attempted to stop Liberty forward Swin Cash. Cash had a rather quiet night, finishing with just eight points in 24 minutes of play, while Whalen finished with eight points, three rebounds and four assists.

Lynx guard Anna Cruz had a rather quiet night herself, putting up just four points, three assists and a steal in Minnesota’s loss.

Lynx forward Maya Moore led all scorers on Friday night, pouring in 25 points on 8-of-20 (40 percent) shooting. Moore added nine rebounds, three assists and a steal to round out her stat sheet.
