When things are going well, they are really going well; the Minnesota Lynx can attest to that. Out two All-Star guards entering Friday night’s contest with the Indiana Fever, they watched as, near the end of the third quarter, All-Star game MVP and reigning league MVP took an accidental elbow to the face from teammate Sylvia Fowles and was forced to the locker room for the rest of the game. Such an injury can be deflating for most teams; the Minnesota Lynx are not like most teams.
Minnesota maintained its composure and finished what Moore helped to start – a Lynx victory. Their bench players came up huge and Minnesota defeated Indiana 81-65 and moved themselves just one win away from clinching the Western Conference.
There were so many great moments and plays in Friday night’s game, but here are just a few of the best gathered here in the game’s photo gallery.

Making just her second start of the season for Minnesota, guard Renee Montgomery had a solid game, finishing with 13 points, three rebounds and seven assists.

Fever guard Layshia Clarendon was held relatively quiet by Minnesota’s backcourt defense and finished with just nine points, three rebounds and three assists.

Only two Fever players scored in double-digits – forward Natasha Howard was not one of them. Howard finished with just five points and five rebounds in over 14 minutes of play off the bench.

Despite leaving the game near the end of the third quarter due to an incidental elbow to the nose from teammate Sylvia Fowles, Lynx forward Maya Moore still managed to have a good night, finishing with 11 points on 4-of-8 (50 percent) shooting in 23 minutes of play.

Entering Friday night’s contest as Indiana’s second-leading scorer (11.2 PPG), guard Shenise Johnson was held silent by Minnesota’s backcourt defense, finishing with just four points, two rebounds and three assists in the Fever loss.

The Lynx frontcourt was fantastic on Friday night and Rebekkah Brunson was a big part of that. Brunson finished the night with 14 points, 11 rebounds and one steal.

The other half of Minnesota’s dynamic frontcourt duo, Sylvia Fowles, was near unstoppable on Friday night, finishing with a game-high 18 points and game-high 14 rebounds to go with her two steals and two blocked shots.

All five Lynx starters scored in double-figures on Friday night, and that included guard Anna Cruz. Cruz played great defense once again while finishing with 12 points, four rebounds and six assists in the Lynx win.
