Does anyone know what makes teams happiest in the WNBA? Anyone…? Bueller…? Bueller…? It is winning folks; winning is guaranteed to make every team throughout the league happy. The Minnesota Lynx were happy as they returned to their winning ways on Sunday night, defeating their Western Conference rival Phoenix Mercury 71-61, pushing their lead in the conference to three games with just four games remaining while also clinching themselves homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs; now that is a good way to start off a four game homestand.

This past week has been rather quiet for Minnesota, playing just one other game and that was last Friday night against the New York Liberty; unfortunately the Lynx took the loss that night, falling 81-68 and allowing the Liberty to clinch themselves a playoff berth. As I said though, the Lynx responded well against the Mercury.

The over 9,000 fans that packed into Target Center had the place rocking from the opening tip-off, giving the Lynx the energy and the homecourt advantage they were so desperately longing for after spending so much time on the road. Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve said it best after the win Sunday night: “Our fans were terrific and, you know what, we needed them. Our players needed them.” The Lynx are hoping that the fans will make Target Center just as loud, if not louder, when they take on the Indiana Fever on Friday night.

The fans are definitely making quite a bit of noise on social media this week, especially after a huge win over a conference foe.
