What a busy week it has been for the Minnesota Lynx. Three games – hard fought games at that – and they’ll be playing their fourth game in eight nights tomorrow night when they seek out revenge against the Washington Mystics.
After beating the San Antonio Stars 83-76 last Tuesday night, the Lynx clinched their fifth-consecutive playoff berth; they are the first team this season to clinch a playoff berth. They carried that momentum, well, they kind of did at least, into Atlanta to take on the Dream last Friday night. The Lynx came out slow and found themselves in a 16 point hole; such a hole was not too deep to climb out of though. The Lynx mounted a furious comeback led by forward Maya Moore’s season-high 36 points and they beat the Dream 84-82. Finally, the Lynx headed to Washington to take on the Mystics on Sunday afternoon. It wasn’t pretty, and the Lynx seemingly never looked settled, playing from behind most of the game and failing to close out a tough Mystics team, losing 77-69.
On a more positive note though, Moore was named Western Conference Player of the Week yesterday, her fourth such honor of the season (with a few more to come I’m sure).
Lynx fans are getting more and more excited as the season draws to a close and playoff basketball inches closer and closer. So, of course, being the good person that I am, I collected such tweets of happiness, excitement and wonder and present them to you now in this week’s top tweets.
