Top 20 Players | #9 – Teresa Edwards

Teresa Edwards is one of the most decorated women’s basketball players of all time, but she did most of her work on the international stage. The four-time Olympic Gold Medalist joined the Lynx at the end of her career, but had a real impact on the franchise during her relatively short tenure.

In the 2003 WNBA draft, the Lynx used the 14th pick to bring the then 38-year-old guard to Minnesota. On top of a successful career with the ABL, Edwards had already participated in five Olympic games—more than any other American basketball player, male or female. She holds the U.S. Women’s Olympic Team record for most career assists as well as assists in a game (15). In total, she won 14 medals over the course of 19 international competitions.

Edwards played with the Lynx for two years before retiring from the WNBA. She averaged 5.5 points and 3.3 assists over the course of her career, and helped the Lynx make their first-ever playoff appearance in 2003. Edwards rejoined the Lynx in 2006 as an assistant coach.
