Scouting Report | Lynx vs. Liberty
The Game
The Lynx are hoping to snap a four-game losing streak on Saturday night against the Liberty at home.
It’s a bit of a revenge game, too, considering the Lynx fell to the Liberty 75-69 just 10 days ago in New York.
The key for the Lynx will be limiting their turnovers. The Lynx have turned the ball over 160 times, a mark that leads the league by 27 turnovers. That’s very unlike a Cheryl Reeve coached team, but it also speaks to how difficult it is to get so many new faces on the same page to start a season.
The Lynx go into the game with a 4-4 record, sixth in the league.
The Liberty at 3-6, ninth in the league.

Battle Of The Bigs
The battle to watch is between bigs Sylvia Fowles and Tina Charles.
Fowles is having a down year for her standards but is still averaging 14.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
Last week, Fowles moved to 19thon the league’s all-time scoring list.
Charles is averaging 17.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
Both are expected to be representing their teams in the All-Star Game next month in Las Vegas.
Back on June 12, Fowles got the edge, limiting Charles to just 12 points on 5-for-17 shooting from the field and 0-for-5 from the 3-point line.
Meanwhile, Fowles finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 8-for-15 from the field.
Also keep an eye on rookies Napheesa Collier and Asia Durr, two players who will likely be in the Rookie of the Year conversation as the season progresses.
Shooting From Deep
Minnesota’s ability to shoot from deep is very real.
The Lynx have made 62 3-pointers this season, a mark that ranks third in the league. This comes a year after the team made 173 3-pointers in 2018, a mark that ranked 13th.
The Lynx are on pace to make 263 3-pointers in 2019.
The main factor in that is Reeve has changed her offense to revolve around her new shooters, something this team hasn’t had a lot of in the past.
Lexie Brown is making 2.1 per game at a 45.2 percent clip, Damiris Dantas is hitting 1.9 per game at 42.5 percent and Odyssey Sims is hitting 1.0 at 33.3 percent.
While we’re at it, we should probably start to mention Brown more for the league’s Most Improved Player Award. Brown’s 19 made 3-pointers rank fourth in the league and her 45.2 percentage ranks first for players with 40 or more attempts from deep.
New York sits right behind Minnesota with 59 made 3-pointers on the season.
Injury Report:
Lynx: Seimone Augustus (knee) and Jessica Shepard (ACL) are out.
