Scouting Report | Lynx vs. Mercury
The Lynx are hoping to bounce back from a tough Tuesday night loss to the Storm in Seattle.
It won’t come easy against a Mercury squad led by Brittney Griner. Even without Diana Taurasi, Phoenix is a tough team and it goes through Griner.
The Lynx go into the game with a 3-1 record, tied for first in the league. The Mercury are 1-1, tied for sixth with three other teams.
This is the first matchup between the two teams this season. The Lynx were 2-1 against the Mercury last season.

Keep On Shooting, Damiris!
Damiris Dantas has been a huge plus to this team with her passing and overall feel for the game offensively.
A big part of that has been Dantas’ shooting. Dantas is shooting career highs of 54.5 percent from the field and a scorching 61.5 percent from the 3-point line.
She’s 8-for-13 from the 3-point line this season and has shot 3-for-5 in each of her last two matchups. Dantas’ ability to stretch the floor is huge for a Lynx team that wants to shoot more 3-pointers as a team. It opens up driving lanes for Danielle Robinson and the post for Sylvia Fowles.
As a team, the Lynx rank second with 25 made 3-pointers and they are shooting at a 34.2 percent clip, a mark that ranks fourth in the league.
This starts with Dantas.
More Responsibility For Bonner
It’s a pretty small sample size, but Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner is off to a hot start through two games.
She’s averaging 21.5 points, 10 rebounds and 4.0 assists per contests.
The points are a bit skewed considering she scored 31 points in the first game of the season and just 12 in the second. But she has eight and 12 rebounds in those games, respectively, and four assists in each game.
With Taurasi out, the Mercury will need Bonner to step up offensively. She’s averaged 18 shots per contests and while she’s not shooting super-efficient (just 41.7 percent from the field and 25 percent from deep), the Mercury will need to depend on Bonner more and we can probably expect her usage to remain high.
