The Game

Sunday evening’s matchup against the Fever marks the final home game of the 2019 season. My, oh, my. How time flies . . .

We know which teams in the WNBA will be taking part in the 2019 playoffs, but we’re not exactly sure how the standings will end up.

As of Saturday afternoon, the Lynx are 16-15, good for sixth in the league. They are a mere 0.16 percentage points ahead of both Seattle and Phoenix. Translation: The three remaining games for the Lynx are extremely important.

It’s also worth keeping an eye on the Chicago Sky. The Lynx are two games back from the Sky and have the tiebreaker.

The Sky and Mercury also play on Sunday evening. Go Mercury? That felt weird typing.

As for the Fever they sit at 11-20. The Lynx are 1-1 against Indiana this season.

Lynx Connection

This might not be a direct connection, but just go with us here. Pokey Chatman is Indiana’s head coach. Chatman was also Sylvia Fowles’ head coach in Chicago from 2011-15.

Considering Fowles just had 25 points and 12 rebounds against the Sky last week, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Fowles have another good game against her former coach.

Fowles is just nine rebounds away from the No. 2 spot on the all-time list.

That seems pretty likely.

Something You Might Not Have Known…

The Rookie of the Year campaign continues for Napheesa Collier. Collier is just one rebound away from 200 on the season. She’d be the fourth rookie in league history with 200 rebounds and 60 steals in a season.

She’s also just one point away from 400 on the season. That’d make her just the second rookie in league history with 400 points, 200 rebounds and 60 steals in a season.

Just give her the trophy already.
