On Saturday night, the Lynx played host to the Western Conference rival Phoenix Mercury. It was a huge game for the Mercury because it was All-Star center Brittney Griner’s first game back from suspension. The Lynx made it a point to shut Griner down, and by doing so, turned in one of their best defensive performances of the year. The Lynx held Phoenix to just 19-of-57 (33 percent) shooting and forced the Mercury to commit 20 turnovers. The Lynx beat the Mercury 71-56 and proved once again why they are one of the best teams in the Western Conference, as well as in the entire WNBA. Here are some of the best photos from Saturday night’s dominant victory.

After struggling the last few games, Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen had a great game against Phoenix, scoring 21 points while adding four rebounds and three assists.

Lynx guard Monica Wright had a quiet game against the Mercury, scoring just two points, grabbing two rebounds and dishing two assists in just 16 minutes of playing time.

Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner led Phoenix scoring a team-high 18 points while adding seven rebounds and four assists.

Lynx forward Devereaux Peters had another solid all-around game off the bench, scoring five points to go with her four rebounds and four blocked shots. It was the second game in a row that Peters has blocked four or more shots.

After a 24 point outburst against Seattle on Thursday night, Lynx guard Seimone Augustus cooled off a bit against the Mercury scoring just six points on 3-of-13 shooting.

Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson notched another double-double this season, scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in the Lynx victory.

Lynx forward Maya Moore proved once again why she’s the reigning WNBA MVP, scoring 21 points to go with five rebounds, six assists, and five steals.

Mercury forward Candice Dupree struggled against the Lynx, scoring just eight points on 3-of-7 shooting while committing five turnovers in the loss.

Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson led a monster defensive effort by Minnesota contributing three of the team’s 10 blocks and three of the team’s 10 steals. The Lynx also held the dominant Mercury backcourt in check, giving up only 14 points in the paint.

In her first game back after a seven-game suspension, Mercury center Brittney Griner scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while adding two blocked shots as well.
