Overseas Update | Lynx Players Earn Four Wins In Week’s Slate Of Games

The first month of 2020 has been a productive one for the WNBA, and the same has been true for Lynx players, as well as players the organization holds rights to, who competed with their overseas teams this past week.

This week, Lexie Brown, Cecilia Zandalasini, Katerina Elhotova, Danielle Robinson, Temi Fagbenle and Stephanie Talbot combined for a record of 4-1-1 through Thursday.

Brown, who plays for Bnot Hertzeliya in Isreal, kicked off the week by scoring a game-high 25 points in her team’s 83-70 loss to Elitzur Ramla on Monday. Brown also added five rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block to her team’s effort. This type of production isn’t irregular for Brown. Through 15 games, she’s averaging 18.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.93 steals per game. Brown’s 4.7 rebounds per game may be the most impressive part of that stat line as she averaged just 1.4 boards in her second WNBA season in 2019.

Zandalasini, who the Lynx still hold rights to, competed with Fnerbahce on Tuesday and contributed 22 points in her team’s 75-54 win over Famila Schio. Zandalasini shot an efficient 7-for-12 from the field and 4-for-8 from the 3-point line in just 23 minutes and 57 seconds of playing time. She added three rebounds, two assists, two steals and was a plus-17 in Tuesday’s win. In 15 games, she’s shooting 40.3% from 3-point range to boost her 13 points per game season average.

Elhotova did not play in USK Praha’s 86-67 win against Nadezhda Orenburg on Tuesday.

Robinson had a quieter offensive performance on Wednesday in CCC Polkowice’s 82-82 tie with MBA Moscow in Game 2 of Round 16 in the EuroCup. However, Robinson still finished with a plus-2 plus-minus rating along with two assists.

Fagbenle competed with Botas/Avenida on Wednesday and earned an 80-67 EuroCup win over Artego Bydogszcz after contributing six points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block to her team’s win. Fagbenle finished as a plus-18 after playing for 16:18.

Talbot and Adelaide pulled off an exciting 75-74 win over Perth early Thursday. Talbot added 13 points to her team’s win after hitting three of her six 3-point attempts, and she also recorded five rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block. Like Brown, Talbot has also been a force on the boards this season as she’s averaging 8.5 rebounds per game to go along with 14 points after 20 contests.

The Lynx players will continue their overseas seasons Friday through Monday.
