Lynx Honor Ann Bancroft Foundation With Grant
On June 11 as the Minnesota Lynx defeated the Seattle Storm 94-70 at home, the Lynx FastBreak Foundation honored an amazing organization, with an amazing gift.
The Lynx honored the Ann Bancroft Foundation with a $4,000 grant. There to accept the honor for the Ann Bancroft Foundation was Sara Fenlason, the recently named Executive Director.
“This is an amazing gift to the organization,” Fenlason said. “We provide grants up to $500 for girls and that means this can provide eight grants to girls in Minnesota to pursue their dreams and it’s all about the girls.”
The Ann Bancroft Foundation was founded in 1997 and has awarded more than 3,000 grants since then to Minnesota girls – connecting them to mentors, funding and encouragement to help them reach their highest girls.
The Foundation is located in Minnesota, and you can visit their website at annbancroftfoundation.org.
Fenlason has seen more and more young girls come through the Foundation with goals of playing college basketball and eventually in the WNBA – something that wouldn’t have been possible when Fenlason was growing up.
“It’s amazing. We just had a grand cycle and there were so many girls who first of all, want to play basketball, and they were seeking a grant to go to camp or play AAU basketball. And they really see a Division I scholarship as a chance for them to go to college. And they dream of playing in the WNBA.”
