Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Fastbreak Foundation, the non-profit arm of the Timberwolves and Lynx, has announced plans to provide $200,000 in funding to local organizations, including $150,000 in immediate support for trusted partners helping those impacted during this unprecedented and difficult time in our community. The initial grants will be awarded to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities, Greater Twin Cities United Way and Second Harvest Heartland. Each organization will receive $50,000 to distribute aid to the areas of our communities facing the greatest need. Following this round of grants, the foundation’s board will award two additional contributions totaling $50,000 to non-profits providing critical support in the community.
These grants reflect the foundation’s ongoing commitment to addressing pressing needs in the Twin Cities while partnering with respected local advocates to drive meaningful change. Alongside these grants, the Timberwolves will offer limited-edition t-shirts at tonight’s game, honoring the unity and compassion of Minnesota communities. All net proceeds will support the foundation’s upcoming Community Response Grants, providing urgent assistance to families and individuals facing critical challenges.
“At our core, the Timberwolves and the Lynx are about bringing people together through the power of sports,” said Timberwolves and Lynx CEO Matthew Caldwell. “At a time when unity and compassion matter more than ever in Minnesota, supporting nonprofits that are delivering critical resources is one way we stand with our neighbors in need and strengthen our community.”
The foundation’s board has carefully reviewed and approved these grants to ensure funds support programs delivering measurable impact.
How the grants will be used:
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities launched the Community Relief Fund to respond to emerging and immediate needs. The fund will support food, supplies and additional staff services, ensuring our youth and their families stay nourished and supported during this critical time.
Greater Twin Cities United Way
Through the Greater Twin Cities United Way Community Response Fund, the organization supports local emergency relief and mutual aid efforts. The organization is also making emergency grants to fund partner organizations that are on the ground distributing food, keeping families stably housed, and supporting transportation efforts.
Second Harvest Heartland
Second Harvest Heartland remains committed to ensuring our neighbors in need can obtain the food essential to their well-being. The organization is creating emergency food boxes and working closely with its hunger-relief partners to ensure the organizations it supports are stocked with groceries as they work to serve families throughout the community.
