Losses in the WNBA are always tough to handle, especially when suffered in close games. What’s the best way to get over a loss though? Avenge said loss.

The Minnesota Lynx have a chance tonight to avenge their previous loss to the Chicago Sky; doing so will be quite a tough task.

The Sky are currently in the midst of a win-streak; winning four straight and having not lost in the month of July.

The Lynx are riding a two-game win streak of their own and have not lost since suffering a 90-83 loss to Chicago last Friday night.

The Sky still have two of the top scorers in the league in guard Ella Delle Donne (first in the league, averaging 24.7 points per game) and guard Cappie Pondexter (fifth in the league, averaging 17.6 points per game), however, the Lynx have the hottest scorer in the league right now.

Forward Maya Moore is third in the league in scoring (18.8 points per game) but has scored 20+ points in her last five games including a 26-point showing against the Sun on Tuesday night.

The match-up will also be a battle between conference leaders with the Sky sitting in a tie with the New York Liberty atop the Eastern Conference and the Lynx leading the Western Conference by a game over the Tulsa Shock.

LAST MEETING

These two teams last met last Friday night in Chicago and the Sky showed off their high-scoring ability, dropping 90 points on a tough Lynx defense.

Guards Delle Donne and Pondexter led the Sky, both scoring 24 points while Moore led all scorers, scoring 29 points, including 25 in the second half, while adding 10 rebounds and six assists.

The Sky managed to shoot 30-of-63 (50 percent) from the floor while the Lynx only managed to shoot 34-of-78 (43 percent).

Entering the fourth quarter, the Sky led by just a single point, but outscored Minnesota 30-24 in the final quarter to pull away with 90-83 victory.

KEY MATCHUP: ELLA DELLA DONNE VS. MAYA MOORE

If you are a basketball fan and if you like high-scoring games, then this will be the matchup for you.

Tonight’s game will feature the WNBA’s highest scorer against the WNBA’s hottest scorer.

Sky guard Ella Delle Donne leads the league, scoring 24.7 points per game despite scoring just 11 points in her last game against the Washington Mystics.

Lynx forward Maya Moore sits third in the league in scoring, averaging 18.8 points per game including an incredible 23.8 points through her last five games.

Defense will be extremely important in tonight’s game but these two scorers are going to put on a show offensively and both will play a huge role in deciding which team wins this game.
