It is always tough to suffer a loss in the WNBA. It is even more tough when the loss puts an end to a three-game winning streak.

On Friday night, the Lynx suffered a loss to the Chicago Sky, losing 90-83, and ending their three-game winning streak. Lynx forward Maya Moore did all she could, scoring 25 of her game-high 29 points in the second half; however. 24 points from Sky guards Cappie Pondexter and Ella Delle Donne sank the Lynx, sending them to just their third loss of the season. The Lynx will look to start a new winning-streak tonight against the San Antonio Stars.

The Stars put an end to a two-game losing streak with a win against the Los Angeles Sparks last Wednesday night, however, they followed their win up with a disappointing 83-76 loss on Friday night to the Indiana Fever.

The biggest problem for the Stars thus far this season has been consistency. When they play well defensively, their offense struggles, and vice versa. The Lynx will look to take advantage of such inconsistencies, especially after their last disappointing defensive showing.

On Friday night, the Lynx allowed the Sky to score 90 points (the Sky do lead the league in points-per game) on 32-of-63 shooting (50 percent) and will need to improve on both fronts if they hope to avoid their first two-game losing streak of the season.

LAST MEETING

When the Lynx and Stars last met on June 19 this season, the Lynx flexed their proverbial muscle and dominated San Antonio, holding them to their lowest point total of the season en route to a 74-59 victory.

Guard Seimone Augustus led the Lynx, scoring 18 points while adding four assists. Four Lynx players scored in double figures and Minnesota shot 31-of-56 (55.4 percent) from the floor. It was a much different story for the Stars.

San Antonio shot a dismal 22-of-62 (35.5 percent) from the floor, which included going just 3-of-15 (20 percent) from beyond the arc.

Guard Jia Perkins led San Antonio scoring 16 points while forward Dearica Hamby added 10 points and four rebounds in the loss.

KEY MATCH-UP:  SOPHIA YOUNG-MALCOM VS. MAYA MOORE

The Stars have had little to be happy about so far this season, but Sophia Young-Malcom has definitely been a bright-spot. Averaging 13.2 points (second on the team) and 5.2 rebounds per game, Young-Malcom has been downright dominant for the Stars of late, including a 27 point, seven rebound performance in her previous game. Slowing Young-Malcom down will be a challenge, but the Lynx are sure that the reigning WNBA MVP Maya Moore is up to the task.

Moore has been dominant as of late herself. Moore leads Minnesota averaging 18.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, including a game-high 29 points in her last game, making it the fourth-straight game in which Moore has scored 20+ points.

The battle between these two will be high-scoring, no doubt about that, likely coming down to which of these players can score the last basket.
