Preview: Augustus Faces Lynx For First Time As MIN-LA Rivalry Gets Renewed Sunday
Fourteen seasons, four championships, and countless franchise records.
For the past decade-and-a-half, Seimone Augustus was the Minnesota Lynx. Augustus will take on her former team for the first time since departing the Twin Cities when the Lynx (5-1) take on their bitter rival Los Angeles Sparks (3-3).
The Lynx enter the Sunday matinee riding four consecutive wins, led by Sylvia Fowles’ 16.8 points and 11 rebounds per game. Minnesota won a gritty matchup with the Indiana Fever Friday night, 87-80, led by Lexie Brown’s career-highs of 26 points, nine assists, and six rebounds to go with a team-high four steals in the win.
Los Angeles fell to the Las Vegas Aces on Friday, 86-82, despite 20 points and 12 rebounds from Candace Parker. Augustus did not play versus the Aces, but holds an average of 9.2 points per game in her 15th WNBA season.
