McBride Among EuroLeague MVP Front Runners, Achonwa Wins Italian Cup

New Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride has been among Europe’s best this winter. Playing for Istanbul’s Fenerbahçe S.K., McBride is averaging 19.5 points per game to lead all scorers. The 28-year-old leads EuroLeague with 39 three-pointers attempted, converting 38.5% from deep.
In domestic play, Fenerbahçe is 25-0 this season in the Kadınlar Basketbol Süper Ligi. McBride is averaging 20.8 points per game on 54% shooting from the field, 44.7% from three-point range, and 88% from the free-throw line for the Turkish power.
Fenerbahçe resumes play in the EuroLeague on March 17 versus Istanbul rival Galatasaray.
Elsewhere in Europe, fellow Lynx newcomer Natalie Achonwa scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds to help Famila Wüber Schio beat Umana Reyer Venezia, 69-55, in the Coppa Italia Final.
