INNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx, who finished off the Los Angeles Sparks 2-1 in the three-game series on Tuesday, will open up the Western Conference Finals at Target Center on Thursday, September 24, at 7 p.m. CT. This season marks Minnesota’s fifth straight trip to the Western Conference Finals and it has advanced to the WNBA Finals in three of the past five seasons. The Lynx will face the Phoenix Mercury, who swept the Tulsa Shock in its Western Conference Semifinals matchup. This series is a rematch of the 2013 and 2014 Western Conference Finals, which saw the Lynx sweep the Mercury 2-0 in 2013 but fell 1-2 in 2014.

Minnesota finished 2-3 in the five-game series with the Mercury this season. This year’s postseason meeting will be the fourth time the two clubs have met in the playoffs, also facing off in the 2014 Western Conference Finals (Phoenix won the series, 2-1), the 2013 Western Conference Semifinals (Minnesota won the series, 2-0) and the 2011 Western Conference Finals (Minnesota won the series, 2-0).

This season marks the fifth consecutive season the Lynx put together 20+ wins, which is the second longest such stretch in WNBA history (Los Angeles – 6, 1999-2004).
