Players to auction off autographed game-worn jerseys after the game for charity

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx today announced it will host its annual Breast Health Awareness game presented by Mayo Clinic on Sunday, August 9 as the Lynx take on the Los Angeles Sparks at 6 p.m., with the first 2,500 fans receiving a pink bandana. The Lynx will be wearing commemorative pink uniforms on Sunday night and auctioning them off to fans after the game. Additionally, the team will also host an honor/memory wall in the Lynx Party Zone for fans to write notes to friends and family who are affected by breast cancer.

Following the game the entire team will head back out to the court and auction the game-worn jerseys off their backs, autographing the jerseys and posing for a picture with the winners. All proceeds from the night will go towards the Lynx Foundation, which supports breast cancer research and support programs throughout the state of Minnesota.

In addition to its Breast Health Awareness game, the Lynx will host the seventh annual Catwalk for a Cure presented by Mayo Clinic on Aug. 26 at the Timberwolves and Lynx Courts at Mayo Clinic Square.  Lynx players and coaches will take part in a fashion show that will feature a silent auction, with all proceeds from the event going to the Lynx Foundation which supports breast cancer research and support programs in the state of Minnesota. The event begins at 5:15 p.m., where fans will have the opportunity to mingle with the team, enjoy dinner and bid on silent auction items featuring sports memorabilia and unique experiences from around the Twin Cities.

Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks wraps up the WNBA’s Breast Health Awareness Week (August 4-9) as part of WNBA’s BHA platform. For 17 years, the program has focused on generating awareness and educating women about breast cancer in addition to raising funds for the initiative. The WNBA, its teams and players are supporting the effort to fight breast cancer during WNBA Breast Health Awareness Week, which have raised more than $2 million to aid the fight against breast cancer.

Minnesota enters Friday’s game with the record in the WNBA with a record of 15-5.
