Kayla McBride is T-Rex Cookie’s September Guest Baker

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – Minnesota Lynx guard and three-time WNBA All-Star Kayla McBride has teamed-up with popular local cookie maker T-Rex Cookie, creating a one-of-kind cookie for the month of September.

McBride worked with T-Rex Cookie founder and owner Tina Rexing for weeks testing and developing the giant green mint chocolate chip cookie – a flavor that holds a special meaning to McBride.

“I remember my mom sitting up late eating mint chocolate chip ice cream,” said McBride. “As I got older, she would let me have a bowl with her and it slowly became my favorite. This cookie is a testament to not only our love of baking but the special relationship I have with my mom.”

“We loved partnering with Kayla for September’s Guest Baker,” said Rexing. “It was cool to have her in the shop to make her cookie dough. We can’t wait until everyone tries her amazing flavor.”

McBride’s cookie will be available on Sept. 3 at all Twin Cities Hy-Vee locations, T-Rex stores in Eagan and Ridgedale Mall, and during Lynx games at Target Center. A portion of proceeds from each cookie will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities, a charity personally selected by McBride.

“Kids are the next generation,” said McBride. “I always love bringing kids together through sport and being a Big Sister. The opportunity to bring my love of baking and my love of kids was a no brainer.”

Voted Best Cookie in America, T-Rex Cookie is known for its giant half-pound to five-pound cookies. Throughout the year, the company collaborates with local personalities, athletes, and community members as a “Guest Baker” to create a one-of-kind cookie with proceeds benefitting a nonprofit selected by the guest baker.
