Behind The Scenes With The Lynx At 2019 WNBA All-Star Weekend

All-Star Weekend has come and gone. The game has been played, the festivities are over and now it’s time to start looking ahead to the rest of the WNBA season.

But not quite yet.

There is a lot that goes on at All-Star Weekend that doesn’t make it to national TV. Luckily, Taylor Nardinger, who runs the Lynx’s social media accounts, was in Vegas with the Lynx All-Stars and captured quite a few moments that might have otherwise been missed.

On Friday, before the skills challenge and three-point competition, the All-Stars took the floor for a media circuit and open practice. That gave the three All-Stars a chance to check in with fans and for Sylvia Fowles to give Odyssey Sims and Napheesa Collier a little advice before the skills challenge. Spirits were predictably high.

Also, during the media circuit Fowles had her face scanned for use in future video games. That is exciting news, as gamers will soon be able to suit up as Syl in future titles, but it also allowed Fowles to show off her personality a bit.

Keep dancing, Syl.

The skills challenge didn’t go as Sims and Collier hoped, but they didn’t let it get them down. On Saturday, at shootaround before the game, the two of them got the chance to don their All-Star jerseys for the first time. They were all smiles then.

There was an opportunity for some more dance moves from Fowles then as well and this time Sims joined in.

Then it was time for the game. The All-Stars were introduced, and Sims especially seemed overjoyed to finally be walking across that stage. It makes sense, given how hard she has worked for the moment.

All of the Lynx played well in the game, with Fowles nearly collecting a double-double and Sims hitting a three-pointer at the first quarter buzzer in what was probably the highlight of the first half.

Now the Lynx are back in Minnesota and set to begin practicing again on Tuesday as they work towards a strong finish to their season.
