Sloane Martin – Courtside Reporter

@sloanemartin

Sloane Martin is the sideline reporter and fill-in play-by-play broadcaster for the Lynx on Bally Sports North. She currently serves as the lead play-by-play broadcaster for women’s basketball on Big Ten Network in addition to calling softball, volleyball and hockey. Martin also announces college basketball on CBS Sports Network and FS1 as well as men’s professional basketball for the Big3 on CBS and Paramount+.

Martin has earned a reputation for breaking barriers for women in sports broadcasting. In 2019 she made history with the Lynx as the first full-time female radio play-by-play voice of a Twin Cities professional team broadcasting regular and postseason games for the four-time WNBA champions. That same year she became the first female play-by-play announcer in the 75-year history of the Minnesota Boys Hockey Tournament.

The versatility that Sloane has become known for as a broadcaster was on full display during the 2021 WNBA season when on national television she singularly handled both play-by-play and analyst duties as well as hosting the halftime show and conducting post-game interviews on multiple WNBA games.

Martin worked in radio for more than a decade, first at WGR and WBEN in Buffalo, NY followed by five years at WCCO Radio in Minneapolis where she was a reporter, anchor, and host. In her radio career she covered everything from elections, to the murder of George Floyd, to major sports events including Super Bowl LII and the 2019 NCAA Men’s Final Four.
