Lynx Overseas Update

  • Maya Moore continued her hot play in the WCBA on Tuesday, scoring 43 points, grabbing nine rebounds (two offensive), dishing out five assists and recording five steals for Shanxi in a 92-72 win over Yunnan. Moore was an efficient 16-of-24 (.667) from the field and 8-of-8 from the free throw line. She added three blocks to round out the all-around performance. With the win, Shanxi improved to 13-2, holding onto first place in the WCBA.


  • Despite20 points, four rebounds and two assists from Seimone Augustus, Spartak V MR dropped a tight game against Bourges in EuroLeague play yesterday, 72-77. Augustus was 9-of-14 (.643) from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range, in 32 minutes. The loss drops Spartak to 6-2, tied with Bourges for first place in Group A. Spartak returns to the floor on Saturday, facing off with Diana Taurasi, Candace Parker and UMMC Ekaterinburg in Russian League play before taking the holidays off.


  • Lindsay Whalen squared off with Lynx teammate Rebekkah Brunson on Wednesday, with Whalens Galatasaray club facing off with Brunsons USK Praha in EuroLeague play. Whalen came out victorious, scoring seven points, grabbing six rebounds (two offensive) and dishing out a pair of assists in Galatasarays 66-52 win. Meanwhile, Brunson added 11 points, seven rebounds (six offensive) and two steals in the losing effort. Whalen returns to the floor on Saturday in Turkish League play, facing off with Seattle Storm forward Shekinna Stricklen and Antakya. Meanwhile, Brunson takes a break for the holidays, returning to action with USK Praha against DSK Karlin on January 5.


  • Amber Harris and Bichumi dropped its fourth consecutive game today in the South Korea, falling 56-69 to the S-Birds in WKBL play. Harris scored 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting, grabbing eight rebounds and recording an assist. Harris entered the game averaging 19.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.9 blocks and 1.7 steals per game in nine appearances for Bichumi, who fell to 8-12 with the loss.


  • Devereaux Peters scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds in the Italian League yesterday as Lucca fell to Taranto 50-55, snapping a seven-game winning streak. Peters was 4-of-7 from the floor, and added three steals and one blocked shot in 30 minutes of play. Despite the loss, Lucca remains in second place in the A1 Italian League, sitting at 8-2. Peters returns to the floor after a brief break for the holidays on January 6, facing off with Los Angeles Sparks center Jantel Lavender and the first place Familia Schio.


  • Monica Wright scored nine points on 4-of-8 shooting for Dandenong on Saturday, leading the Rangers to a 102-79 win over Sydney Uni. Wright added five rebounds and dished out a pair of assists in 16 minutes of play. She returns to the floor after a brief holiday break on Friday, January 4 against Luaren Jackson and sixth place Canberra.


  • Jessica Adair posted her first Aussie League double-double on Friday, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds (three offensive) in a 56-52 win over first place Bendigo. Adair was 5-of-8 from the floor, adding pair of blocks and steals in 28 minutes of play. She returns to the floor tomorrow to face off against Lauren Jackson and Caberra before taking a two-week holiday hiatus.
