WNBA Unveils Community And Media Events For All-Star 2018

NEW YORK, July 19, 2018 – The WNBA today announced special community and media events for Verizon WNBA All-Star 2018 in Minneapolis.  The 15th WNBA All-Star Game, broadcast nationally by ABC and SiriusXM NBA Radio, will take place on Saturday, July 28 (3:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. CT) at the newly renovated Target Center, home of the four-time WNBA Champion Minnesota Lynx. 

The following is a list of events for Verizon WNBA All-Star 2018:

Thursday, July 26

Jr. NBA and Spalding Host WNBA All-Star Clinic

The Jr. NBA, Spalding, WNBA All-Stars and WNBA legends will host a youth basketball clinic for 75-100 girls from local community organizations at The Courts at Mayo Clinic Square.  Photo and interview opportunities are available.  Please RSVP to Kenlyn Tyree at ktyree@nba.com.

Friday, July 27

WNBA and Kaiser Permanente Host WNBA All-Star FIT Clinic

WNBA All-Stars will host a fitness clinic and provide nutrition tips to 75-100 local boys and girls at Life Time Athletic Target Center.  Photo and interview opportunities are available.  Please RSVP to Kenlyn Tyree.

All-Star Practice Presented by Rasmussen College

The two WNBA All-Star teams – Team Delle Donne and Team Parker – will each have a practice at Target Center, giving fans an up-close view of WNBA All-Stars as they prepare for the midseason showcase.

Practice is available to those who have purchased tickets to the WNBA All-Star Game.  Seating is general admission and doors open at 12 p.m. CT. 

Team Delle Donne, captained by the Washington Mystics’ Elena Delle Donne, will practice from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. CT.  Team Parker, captained by the Los Angeles Sparks’ Candace Parker, will practice from 2:15 p.m. to 3 p.m. CT.  Practice will be live streamed via WNBA Twitter, WNBA Facebook, WNBA.com, and the WNBA app.

Media availability will take place between practices starting at 1:45 p.m. CT.  During this time, fans in attendance will enjoy an All-Star Inspiring Women Talk, a panel on the importance of supporting women and the WNBA.  Panelists include Lynx Head Coach and General Manager Cheryl Reeve, former WNBA player Michele Van Gorp and Rasmussen College President Trenda Boyum-Breen.

WNBA Orange Carpet

WNBA All-Stars will walk the WNBA Orange Carpet outside of the Lexus Courtside Club at Target Center as they enter the All-Star Welcome Reception presented by Rasmussen College, with player arrivals beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT.  Fans and media are invited to view the Orange Carpet arrivals.

Saturday, July 28

Verizon WNBA All-Star 2018

The WNBA All-Star Game will tip off at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.  The Lynx Radio Network’s audio broadcast will be carried nationally by SiriusXM NBA Radio.  Doors for ticket holders will open at 1 p.m.

Three-Point Contest at Verizon WNBA All-Star 2018

Showcasing six current WNBA sharpshooters, the Three-Point Contest will take place during halftime of the WNBA All-Star Game.  Participants will be announced at a later date.  

The WNBA, in partnership with the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA), will reflect the players’ work off the court as leaders on social issues and their active engagement with philanthropic efforts.  For the second consecutive year, $10,000 will be donated to a charity of the winner’s choice in support of her work in the community.
