WNBA Playoff Watch | Lynx Fans Should Cheer For The Wings On Wednesday

It’s officially crunch time in the 2019 WNBA season and nothing about the postseason is clear yet. We’re tracking every game, keeping a close eye on the standings and giving you day-to-day updates on how everything else happening around the league impacts the Lynx.

Lynx Standing: Holding on to the No. 7 seed with a record of 13-12. One game ahead of the No. 8 Mercury and one game behind the No. 7 Storm.

Clinched: No teams
Eliminated: No teams

Last Night’s Games:

Aces Come Back To Win

For a little while on Tuesday, it seemed like we were headed for an upset, with Atlanta taking a halftime lead over Las Vegas and maintaining it into the third quarter. Then the Aces took over. Derica Hamby (the under-the-radar MVP for the Aces this season) and Kayla McBride finished with 23 and 21 points, respectively, and Vegas got back on track in their pursuit of the Sun and Mystics for the league’s No. 1 seed. It’s a close race top to bottom this year.

Who To Root For In Tonight’s Games:

Seattle at Washington (CBS Sports)

This would be a marquee win for the Storm against a team that currently looks like the best in the business, but Minnesota fans should be hoping for more dominance from Washington. It doesn’t seem like Washington is slowing down so it would be better to have a team farther away from the Lynx come away with the victory. The Storm are just a game ahead of the Lynx and any chance to see that gap closed even a half game is one Lynx fans should pull for.

Sparks at Wings (League Pass)

This one is easy. Pull for a hated rival who is also in the playoff race with the Lynx or a team that has just an outside shot of competing in the playoffs? I’ll let you make that determination… So long as you determine that the Wings should pull off the upset. For tonight only we’re all Arike Ogunbowale fans. Then we’re back to shouting from the rooftops that Napheesa Collier has the better resume when it comes to deciding Rookie of the Year (she does).

Sun at Mercury (ESPN2)

Tough one. While the Sun dropping could make things more interesting in terms of moving up in the standings, the Mercury are right behind the Lynx and it would be nice to have some of that pressure taken off. The Sun are the favorites, especially with Brittney Griner’s suspension, and it’s always hard not to root for an underdog, but Lynx fans shouldn’t have too much trouble cheering against the Mercury given the years of heated matchups between the two teams.
