Welcome to Sunshine State.

The Minnesota Lynx arrived at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. on Monday afternoon from Minneapolis-St. Paul to begin preparations for the 2020 WNBA season at the league’s single-site location.

Each player and staff member in the Lynx contingent in Bradenton was tested multiple times for COVID-19 in the week leading up before they could be cleared for departure to Florida. During the build-up to the season, players and coaches were allowed to engage in 1-to-1 individual workouts at Mayo Clinic Square.

Though fans have been craving basketball all summer, don’t expect the Lynx to take the court right away in Bradenton. Upon arriving at IMG Academy, players and staff were once again tested for COVID-19. Everyone at the league’s single-site will now enter a three-day quarantine period, with meals provided and delivered to players and staff for the duration. For at least the first 14 days of the league’s time in Bradenton, each player and staff member will be tested daily to ensure there is no spread of the virus within the WNBA’s campus environment.

With player safety at the forefront amid the pandemic, the 2020 WNBA season is finally upon us. Expect more to come on LynxBasketball.com.
