WATCH: Katie Smith’s Hall of Fame Induction Speech

On Friday night, former Lynx star Katie Smith was inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield.

Smith becomes the first Lynx player (certainly not the last) to be inducted into the Hall.

Her speech was relatively short. A few highlights:

  • Smith’s speech revolved around her home state of Ohio. From her early days playing ball against all boys, to her Final Four run with Ohio State, Smith was very grateful for her time in her home state, a place where she still resides.
  • A big part of Smith’s journey was the Olympics and she mentioned in multiple times. Smith has helped Team USA to three Olympic Gold Medals from 2000-08.
  • Smith, now the coach of the Liberty, reminds us that it’s so important for those in the basketball world to continue support the WNBA: “We as basketball’s guardians can not do enough to support the league in the finest women’s basketball on the planet.”

We wrote about Smith’s induction last week. You can read that here.
