MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – Timberwolves first-round pick Tyus Jones has teamed up with the Lynx as they open up the playoffs this upcoming Friday, September 18 against the Los Angeles Sparks (8 p.m. tip). In support of the Lynx, Jones is providing 500 complimentary tickets for Friday night’s Game 1. Beginning Wednesday at 8 a.m., the first 250 fans that log on to www.lynxbasketball.com will have the opportunity to obtain the seats; limit two per customer.
Minnesota (22-12) finished the regular season with the second-best overall record in the league, securing homecourt advantage in the Western Conference Semifinals. The Lynx have put together 127 wins over the last five seasons, ranking second in WNBA history (Los Angeles – 130, 2000-2004; Los Angeles – 125, 1999-2003. This season marks the fifth consecutive season the Lynx have put together 20+ wins, which is the second longest such stretch in WNBA history (Los Angeles 6, 1999-2004).
In 2013, the Lynx became the fifth team to win two WNBA championships within a three-year span, a group that also includes Houston (1997-98-99-2000), Los Angeles (2001-02), Detroit (2006, 2008) and Phoenix (2007, 2009).
