The Minnesota Lynx are on their first road trip of the season, kicking it off with a game against the New York Liberty on Thursday night.

The game will tip off at 6 p.m. from the historic Madison Square Garden in New York.

“There’s definitely an energy you feel when you walk in here, knowing how many people have poured their heart and soul out on this court, including the fans,” Lynx forward Maya Moore said after shootaround. “The passion, the history of this building. . . I’m just excited to come back out here with my team and see what we have so far this year.”

Moore and the Lynx will square off against one of the top defensive teams in the WNBA, which will likely force Minnesota to look for scoring opportunities from the perimeter.

“They are going to force you to take outside shots. Fortunately, that’s something we like to do on this team,” Moore said. “We just have to set in there with poise and knock them down. . . I like shooting from anywhere where there is wood, so looking forward to the challenge tonight.”

The Lynx and Liberty will battle at 6 p.m. Thursday night in New York. The game will be aired on ESPN2 and 106.1 BOB FM.

“You have to be on your guard, you can’t relax,” Moore said. “It’s going to be a hard task, but that’s what competition is all about.”
