Lynx vs. Wings, 7 p.m.
Target Center
Fox Sports North, BOB 106.1

After a disappointing loss on Sunday, the Lynx are looking to bounce back tonight when they take on the Dallas Wings at Target Center. The Wings are 1-1 on the season, and boast an impressive inside-out duo of Skylar Diggins-Smith and Liz Cambage.

This season marks the first WNBA season Cambage has participated in since 2013. She was picked No. 2 overall by the Tulsa Shock in 2011, but missed the 2012 season due to Olympic commitments, and has been playing with clubs in China and Australia since she left the WNBA.

Cambage is an excellent rebounder and post scorer who provides the Wings a dominant inside presence to match up with Sylvia Fowles. Fowles is never one to shy away from competition, and her matchup with Cambage tonight should be excellent. Cambage returns to the same franchise that drafted her (the Shock relocated to Dallas and became the Wings in 2015), but the team is very different now than it was then. When she was drafted, the Shock hoped Cambage could become the face of their franchise, but since then, they’ve found a new leader: Skylar Diggins-Smith.

The Wings hope Cambage is the perfect piece to compliment Diggins-Smith, one of the best point guards in the league. Diggins-Smith is averaging 21.5 points in her first two games this season, and was first team All-WNBA last year. The Lynx will have to throw multiple looks at the clever lefty if they want to slow her down. It’s been said that Diggins-Smith “plays every possession like it’s her last,” and her competitive spirit is legendary. The Lynx will need to bring both energy and focus to slow her down.

With the 2017 Championship festivities behind them, and the emotionally-loaded rematch with the Sparks completed, it’s time for the Lynx to get into a rhythm and start playing out this condensed WNBA season. The Lynx have gotten off to very good starts in their last several seasons, and despite the opening loss, a strong start is still within reach. This game should be a good one—don’t miss it.
