Scouting Report | Lynx at Sun
The Game
The Lynx are on the road to take on the Sun on Saturday in an afternoon game that has the potential to provide some real fireworks.
For much of the beginning of the season, it looked like the Sun were going to cruise to the league’s top seed. However, a winless three-game road trip has them looking for some answers as the Mystics passed them for the top slot. Playing at home might be just what the doctor ordered though. The Sun haven’t lost a game there this season and including the end of last season have won 14 straight at Mohegan Sun Arena.
The Lynx, sitting at 7-6 and No. 4 in the WNBA standings, played very well against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday but will have a much tougher task in front of them in the Sun. The last time the two teams met it was a hard-fought game but the Sun stole the victory on the road, 85-81.

Strength In Numbers
The Sun win games with even scoring and good team defense, as such it’s hard to take them out of games by shutting down one specific person. Jonquel Jones is definitely the center of attention as the most productive scorer on the team, but the players the Sun have around her are all capable of doing their own damage as well. The Lynx were able to score on the Sun in their last meeting but simply couldn’t get the stops they needed to slow down Connecticut’s balanced attack. Fixing those errors will be crucial today and you can be sure that head coach Cheryl Reeve has a plan.
Stepping It Up
The Lynx have been hit with some truly unfortunate injuries in the last few weeks. We don’t need to run down the list, but several contributors for the team will not be on the floor for the foreseeable future. While losing players is obviously not ideal, having spots open up in the rotation represents an opportunity for players on the roster who might not typically see the floor. Steph Talbot took advantage on Tuesday and went off, hitting five three-pointers, a career high. Whether it’s Talbot again today or someone else, the gap left by the Lynx’s injuries needs to be filled for them to win.
