What a shame it was that we were only able to see rookie forward Jessica Shepard for six games before she tore her ACL in 2019.
It was a small sample size, but it became pretty obvious pretty fast why the Lynx drafted her 16th overall out of Notre Dame.
Shepard showed offensive skills that few players her size have. Her ability to see the floor and pass is uncanny, and her rebounding ability is also impressive.
Her averages might not look wild in any one area, but you have to consider the fact that she was playing only 18.7 minutes per game. Let’s say she plays 27 minutes per game instead. Those numbers look like 6.9 PPG, 8.2 RPG and 5.1 assists per game. That’s the type of all-around play any team would love to have.
Hopefully we’ll be able to see more of that from a healthy Shepard in 2020.
