Rebounding, Defense Propel Lynx To Victory Over Mystics

  • The Lynx outrebounded Washington 42-31 on Aug. 11, leading to a 17-3 edge in second-chance points. Minnesota went 6-2 a year ago when racking up a double-digit rebounding edge; over the past decade (since the start of 2011), the Lynx are now 80-7 when outboarding the opposition by 10+ (102-19 all-time).

  • Holding the Mystics to 48 points at the final buzzer, the Lynx allowed the fewest points in a game since a 73-47 win over New York on Aug. 27, 2013 at Target Center. This also marks the 10th time in franchise history that Minnesota has kept its opponent under 50 points

  • Mystics’ 29.5% from the field (18-of-61) is the lowest percentage by a Minnesota opponent since Dallas shot 24.6% (17-of-69) on July 9, 2016 at Target Center. The Lynx won that game 93-56. This becomes the 13th sub-30% defensive night in franchise history.

  • Now holding a 6-2 record to start the season, the Lynx have opened a season 6-2 or better nine times in the last 20 seasons
