Preview: Lynx At Sparks

Closing out the first half of the 2021 WNBA season, the Minnesota Lynx (11-7) put their six-game win streak on the line versus the Los Angeles Sparks (6-12) Sunday evening in the City of Angeles. Minnesota took the first of three meetings between the two sides, 80-64, at Target Center back on June 12.

Four of Minnesota’s starting five averages double figures at the halfway point of 2021, led by Napheesa Collier’s 16.6 points per game. A mainstay in the post, Sylvia Fowles holds averages of 15.8 points and 9.8 rebounds, while leading the WNBA in defensive rating. The backcourt of Layshia Clarendon and Kayla McBride have combined to average 34.7 points through the month of July.

Los Angeles limps into Sunday’s matchup having lost five consecutive games. The Ogwumike sisters, Nneka and Chiney, have played a combined to play just eight games this season due to injury. In the superstar siblings’ absence, Erica Wheeler leads the Sparks with 14 points per game.
