Lynx guard Seimone Augustus had a huge fourth quarter and helped lead the Lynx to a 85-79 victory over the Connecticut Sun last night.

Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen steadied the team and commanded the offense, finishing with nine points, six rebounds and two steals.

Despite some early struggles, the Lynx came out scoring in the second-half, outscoring the Sun 20-14 in the third quarter and 43-39 in the second half.

Sun forward Camille Litle helped to pace Connecticut despite the loss, finishing with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting (50 percent).

The only Lynx starter to struggle, Asjha Jones, finished with just two points on 1-of-5 shooting (20 percent) to go with her four rebounds and two blocks.

Sun guard Chelsea Gray played big minutes off the bench, scoring seven points and adding five assists in 23 minutes of playing time.

Connecticut center Kelsey Bone did her best to will the Sun to victory but fell short. Bone finished with 13 points and eight rebounds in 28 minutes of playing time.

Sun guard Alex Bentley was fantastic yet again, pouring in 22 points while adding five steals on the defensive end.

Another stellar defensive effort by Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson slowed Connecticut’s high-scoring offense but Brunson contributed in all aspects, finishing with 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and five steals.

Sun forward Alyssa Thomas was stifled by Brunson’s fantastic defensive showing. Thomas finished with just two points on 0-of-6 shooting.

Augustus, with forward Maya Moore, combined to score 14 straight points for the Lynx in the fourth quarter last night. Augustus finished with 21 points and five assists.

Moore was stellar once again for Minnesota, finishing with a game-high 26 points on 8-of-14 shooting (57 percent) including 4-of-7 (57 percent) from beyond the arc. It was the fifth straight game in which Moore has scored 20+ points. Moore also added seven rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots in the Lynx victory.
