The Rundown:

Hiedeman is an extremely interesting prospect—one of those players that would be extremely valuable if she can do what she does in college at the pro level. However, it’s hard to predict what Hiedeman will look like at the next level.

If you’re looking for a signature skill for Hiedeman, something that will help her make her mark in the WNBA, you have to look at her three-point shooting. Hiedeman attempts 6.6 three-pointers per game and hits them at a 41.7 percent clip. With the emphasis on shooting that you see in the WNBA today, that’s certainly a skill that many teams would value. Additionally, Hiedeman is extremely quick, with good hands on defense, good playmaking ability and solid rebounding numbers for a guard as well.

Despite her obvious talent, the fact of the matter is that there are quite a few players who do what she does—what could set Hiedeman apart is her ability to create her own three-point looks. She can hit with a hand in her face, she has a great step-back game and she’s confident enough to pull up in transition.

The knock on Hiedeman is her efficiency. She only shoots 44.8 percent from the floor—that’s a tough number especially because it’s coming against college-level competition. It’s worth considering that almost half of Hiedeman’s shots come from beyond the three-point line so that naturally affects her efficiency numbers even though she’s very good from beyond the arc, but her reliance on her outside shot doesn’t leave her a ton of room for error.

If Hiedeman can hit three-pointers consistently, she’ll have a role in the WNBA as an high-energy scorer off the bench. The big question is which team believes in that potential, and needs that type of production, enough to use a pick on her. Expect Hiedeman to be picked towards the end of the second or towards the beginning of the third round.
