Minnesota Lynx Unveil Final Group of the All-25 Team

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – Minnesota Lynx today unveiled the final set of five players who will be recognized as part of the All-25 Team in Lynx history throughout the 25th anniversary season. For the past month, the team has unveiled 20 players in groups of five that have been selected as a top 25 franchise player. Qualifications for this honor are strictly statistical and award-based, the list is comprised of players who have scored 1,000+ points, grabbed 500+ rebounds, started 50+ games, were members of 2+ WNBA Championship teams, represented the Lynx in the WNBA All-Star Game and/or were end-of-season WNBA award winners. The final group of the All-25 Team include:

Seimone Augustus – Guard

Selected with the first overall pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft, Augustus is the longest-tenured player in Lynx history (2006-2019). During her rookie year, Augustus averaged 21.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and won the WNBA Rookie of the Year award. Augustus is the franchise leader in games played (370), games started (365) and minutes played (10,918). She started every game of the 2011 regular season during the team’s first championship run. In the playoffs, Augustus averaged an incredible 22.0 points per game and earned the 2011 Finals MVP.

Augustus’ list of accolades in a Lynx uniform is extraordinary, including four-time WNBA champion, 2012 All-WNBA First Team, five-time All-WNBA Second Team and eight-time All-Star. Over her career, Augustus averaged 15.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and is the franchise leader in total points (5,881). Her number 33 jersey was retired by the Lynx on May 29, 2022 joining former teammate Lindsay Whalen in the rafters at Target Center.

Rebekkah Brunson – Power Forward

Acquired by Minnesota from Sacramento in the dispersal draft on Dec. 14, 2009, Brunson appeared in 261 Lynx games, totaling 2,463 points, 267 steals, 174 blocked shots and 56 double-doubles. She ranks among Minnesota’s all-time leaders in rebounding offensive (first, 688), defensive (second, 1,470) and total (second, 2,158).

Known as “The Machine,” Brunson’s remarkable career with the Lynx (2010-2018) included selections to the 2011 All-Defensive First Team, four-time All-Defensive Second Team and is a four-time All-Star. Brunson is also a career-leader in multiple Lynx playoffs, including offensive rebounds (152), defensive rebounds (299) and total rebounds (451).

A record five-time WNBA champion including four with the Lynx, she currently serves as a Lynx Assistant Coach. Brunson joined the Lynx coaching staff after retiring in February of 2020. On July 3, 2022, Brunson’s jersey was the third to be officially retired by the franchise. Her number 32 hangs alongside former teammates Augustus and Whalen inside Target Center.

Sylvia Fowles – Center

Acquired by Minnesota in 2015, Fowles spent eight seasons with the Lynx, retiring at the conclusion of the 2022 season. She ranks as the franchise’s career leader in field goal accuracy (61.1%), rebounds per game (9.8), total blocks (345), doubles-doubles (101), and surpassed former Lynx teammate Rebekkah Brunson in total rebounds (2,174) and defensive rebounds (1,552) during the 2022 season.

Fowles was named the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year, marking the second time she earned the honor in a Lynx uniform, previously 2016. Her extraordinary career with Minnesota includes two WNBA championships (2015, 2017), 2017 Regular Season MVP, 2017 All-WNBA First Team, three-time All-WNBA Second Team, four-time All-Defensive Team, five-time All-Star and earned the 2022 Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award. In 222 games with Minnesota, she started all 222.

Maya Moore – Forward

A four-time WNBA champion, Moore finished her career, announcing her retirement in January 2023, as the Lynx franchise leader in scoring average (18.4), three-point field goals made (530) and steals (449) and finished second in total points scored (4,984), field goals made (1,782), assists (896) and blocks (176). She holds the single-season franchise record for points (812, 2014) and scoring average (23.9, 2014).

The Jefferson City, Mo., native played her entire WNBA career with the Lynx, amassing an impressive résumé that includes 2011 Rookie of the Year, eight-consecutive playoff appearances, six WNBA Finals appearances, four WNBA championships (including 2013 Finals MVP) and six All-Star appearances (three All-Star MVPs). After the 2014 season, Moore was named league MVP finishing the season with a career-high 812 points (23.9 ppg), connecting on 295-of-613 from the field (48.1%), a career best 276 rebounds, 116 assists and 64 steals in 34 games played.

Moore was drafted by Minnesota with the number one overall pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft and appeared in 271 games (all starts) and averaged 18.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game.

Lindsay Whalen – Point Guard

Acquired by Minnesota in a trade with Connecticut on Jan. 12, 2010, Whalen spent nine seasons with the Lynx, averaging 11.5 points (on 47.0% shooting), 3.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. Whalen made four All-Star games with Minnesota in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015. She was also named to the All-WNBA First Team in 2011 and 2013, and the Second Team in 2012 and 2014.

A four-time WNBA champion, “Whay” or “Wheezy” finished her career as the Lynx franchise leader in assists (1,384) while ranking second in games played (283) and fourth in total points (3,233). She holds the single-season franchise record for assists (199, 2011) and is the Lynx playoffs career leader in assists (239). Her number 13 was the first number retired by the Lynx and was hung in the Target Center rafters on June 8, 2019. Whalen was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022.

In honor of the 25th anniversary, Minnesota Lynx legends who are a part of the Top 25 players in history have been invited for a reunion weekend which will tip-off at Target Center on Friday, June 9 vs. Indiana Fever to celebrate the 25th anniversary and the historic accomplishments of the franchise.
