Minnesota Lynx to Host We Are Women Night Presented by Xcel Energy Featuring Guest Speaker Nora McInerny

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx will host their annual We Are Women Night at their game vs. the Atlanta Dream on Sunday, August 5, a night to celebrate the empowerment of girls and women as strong figures around the world and in our communities.

A special ticket package is available that includes a pregame talk with local author Nora McInerny discussing overcoming life challenges, feminism and being a strong woman. Nora describes herself as a reluctant grief expert and wrote the critically-acclaimed memoir It’s Okay to Laugh (Crying is Cool Too), hosts the award-winning podcast Terrible, Thanks for Asking and founded the non-profit organization Still Kickin. Nora will be joined by Xcel Energy’s Energy Supply Senior Vice President Teresa Mogensen. The ticket package is available at www.lynxbasketball.com/wearewomen.

Throughout the evening, women will be honored in-game for their accomplishments. Jill Paylak and Deb Loch will be recognized as Inspiring Women of the Game as owners of the first women-owned brewery in the state of Minnesota, Urban Growler. Captain Chaplain Kelley Lynn Adelsman will be recognized as the Homegrown Hero of the Game, for her service in the U.S. Army. Women Venture, a group that looks to help women attain economic self-sufficiency through the creation and growth of profitable and sustainable businesses, will receive a community gift from the Lynx FastBreak Foundation. Additionally, there will be a photo station inside the arena’s atrium where fans can share what being a strong woman means to them.

The Lynx will also host Girl Scouts and local ambassadors from across the state of Minnesota to enjoy the festivities.
