MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL The Minnesota Lynx today announced the signing of five new honorary members to their roster to create the Minnesota Lynx Dream Team presented by Slumberland. The members are Arabella, 12, from Golden Valley; Diamond, 12, from St. Paul; Keke, 13, from Fridley; Makyia, 11, from St. Paul and Traniyah, 10, from Blaine. Each new member was paired with a Lynx player as a mentor for today’s practice and throughout the 2019 season.

The mentors include Napheesa Collier (Arabella), Danielle Robinson (Traniyah), Odyssey Sims (Diamond), Karima Christmas-Kelly (Keke) and Damiris Dantas (Makiya). In addition to signing an honorary contract, the new members of the Lynx team will have one-on-one time with their mentor, take part in practice, run through skills drills and eat lunch in the Lynx players’ lounge. The Dream Team will also be honored on court pregame on June 22 before the team takes on the New York Liberty.

Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors were given the opportunity to nominate youth through an application process that included descriptions of why each girl should be chosen for the Dream Team and why they are passionate about the Minnesota Lynx and basketball. Each young lady has overcome adversity using the sport of basketball for good. From using basketball as a way to meet new friends at a new school, to playing basketball with a Big Sister and chatting about life’s ups and downs, each girl has used the sport of basketball to grow self-confidence, expand their mindset and build friendships.
