Minnesota Lynx Complete 2022 Training Camp Roster

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx today finalized the team’s training camp roster by signing 2022 draft selections Kayla Jones (22nd overall) and Hannah Sjerven (28th overall), as well as signing rookie forward Chloe Bibby and rookie guards Cece Hooks and Moon Ursin.

Jones, the 22nd overall pick in the 2022 WNBA, appeared in 139 career games (88 starts) for NC State, where she held career averages of 7.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg and 1.9 apg. This season, the 6-1 forward earned an All-ACC Second Team nod after averaging 8.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 20.8 minutes per game. Jones finished her 2020-21 campaign ranked ninth in the ACC in rebounding (7.1 rpg) and was voted to All-ACC First Team. She wrapped up her NC State career ranked 11th in three-point percentage (.355), 14th in free throw percentage (.725) and 14th in total rebounds (734).

Sjerven, the 28th overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft, is a Rogers, Minn. native who saw action in 126 career contests (92 starts) throughout four seasons at the University of South Dakota, registering career averages of 13.9 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 1.2 apg in 22.2 mpg. The 6-2 center was named Summit League Defensive Player of the Year for three consecutive seasons (2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22) and stands as the Coyotes’ career blocks leader with 243. Sjerven averaged 17.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.2 steals in the month of March, leading the Coyotes to the team’s third-straight Summit League Tournament crown and the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16.

Bibby, a 6-2 forward from Maryland, averaged 12.5 points and 5.7 rebounds during her two seasons with the Terps. Earning All-Big Ten Second Team honors in 2022 and an honorable mention in 2021, Bibby finished her five-year career with 1,373 points, 674 rebounds and 44 blocks between her two seasons at Maryland and three seasons at Mississippi State. The Warracknabeal, Australian product earned her degree in marketing in the spring of 2021 and is currently pursuing her master’s in business management.

Hooks, 5-8, finished her five-year career as the all-time leading MAC and Ohio University scorer with 2,843 career points and became the first player in MAC women’s basketball history to win Defensive Player of the Year recognitions in four seasons (2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21; co-winner in 2021-22). The Dayton, Ohio native was a four-time conference steals leader (2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21) and ranked second in 2021-22. Hooks was named the MAC Player of the Year during her 2020-21 campaign and MAC Freshman of the Year in her 2017-18 season. She finished this season leading in points (22.3) rebounds (8.4) and steals (2.9).

Ursin, most recently from Tulane University, finished her graduate year averaging a team-high 14.1 points and 8.5 rebounds while adding 3.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game. The 5-6 guard transferred to Tulane after a four-year stint at Baylor University where she started all 31 games in her senior season and averaged 12.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, earning her All-Big 12 Second Team honors. Ursin helped guide Baylor to a 126-8 record, four regular-season Big 12 Championships and three Big 12 tournament titles during her time there.
