Minnesota Lynx Acquire Guard DiJonai Carrington
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has acquired guard DiJonai (DEE-juh-nay) Carrington from the Dallas Wings in exchange for forward Diamond Miller, guard Karlie Samuelson and Minnesota’s 2027 second-round draft pick.
Carrington, 5’11”, joined Dallas via trade from Connecticut on Feb. 2 after spending her first four WNBA seasons with the Sun. She has appeared in 20 games this season with the Wings, averaging 10.4 points, a career-high 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.05 steals in 24.9 minutes per game. In 151 career games with Dallas and Connecticut, the 27-year-old San Diego, Calif., native holds career averages of 8.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.95 steals in 20.2 minutes per contest.
A second-round draft choice out of Baylor in 2021, Carrington was named the WNBA’s Most Improved Player in 2024 while being selected to the WNBA All-Defensive First Team after starting 39 games for Connecticut and averaging a career-high 12.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.56 steals in 29.6 minutes per night. She has also appeared in 27 postseason games, helping the Sun advance to the WNBA Finals in 2022 and the Semifinals in both 2023 and 2024.
Originally selected by Minnesota with the second overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, Miller appeared in 78 games over her three seasons with the Lynx, averaging 7.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 16.3 minutes per game.
Samuelson, acquired via trade from Washington on Apr. 14, appeared in 16 games with the Lynx and averaged 3.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 16.5 minutes per game.
