Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey Joins Lynx For Book Mobile
To celebrate Women’s History Month, the Minnesota Lynx brought their Book Mobile to Andersen United Community School.
Representing the Lynx was coach Cheryl Reeve, guard Rachel Banham, forward Karima Christmas-Kelly and, of course, Prowl.
That’s not all, though.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey was there to show his support. The group read the students A Is For Awesome!: 23 Iconic Women Who Changed The World.
The students received a free book as well from the Book Mobile.
“When you see these young learners hop on this Book Mobile and see the options that they have right before them, ways to learn ways to interact ways to find out about something new, it’s pretty cool,” Frey said. “You get a good feeling for why you’re doing it. The Lynx and my office as mayor, we’re just pumped to be on that journey along with them.”
For the school’s assistant principal, Eric Loichle, it was a great example, especially for the girls in the class, of what can be accomplished with hard work.
“Read to them, talk about how they practice and how they persevere and work hard and become students, it shows are students, especially our girls, that they can do anything they put their mind to,” Loichle said.
