Maya Moore Wins Sports Illustrated’s Inspiration of the Year Award

On Saturday night, it was announced that Minnesota Lynx star forward Maya Moore was recognized as Sports Illustrated’s Inspiration of the Year. The award show’s host Cari Champion noted that Moore “not only inspired us on the court, but more importantly inspired the world as a result.”

Moore has been recognized by many for her sacrifices after putting her basketball career on hold to fight for social justice. In the video above, Moore discusses watching Jonathan Irons walk free after being wrongfully convicted of a crime in 1998.
