Lynx to Host Breast Health Awareness Night Presented by Mayo Clinic on Sunday, August 12

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx will host their annual Breast Health Awareness Night presented by Mayo Clinic on Sunday, August 12 as the Lynx take on the Seattle Storm at 6 p.m.

The team will be wearing commemorative uniforms and auctioning the game-worn jerseys off postgame. Fans will be invited to Section 131 after the game to place their bids. Winning bidders and a guest will then be invited on to the court to receive their jerseys and get a photo and autograph with the respective player. Additionally, an All-Star painting signed by every 2018 WNBA All-Star from both Team Delle Donne and Team Parker will be auctioned off. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Lynx FastBreak Foundation, which supports organizations that make Minnesota a better place to work, live and play.

“For the fourth straight year, Mayo Clinic is proud to be the presenting partner of Breast Health Awareness Night with the Minnesota Lynx,” said Karthik Ghosh, M.D., the Director of the Breast Diagnostic Clinic at Mayo Clinic. “It is a disease that influences the lives of many, and at Mayo Clinic, we strive to provide the best care for each of our patients. Additionally, we continue our extensive research efforts to find new ways to diagnose cancer early, treat breast cancer better, help those with cancer move steadily towards wellness, and also to reduce the chances of developing breast cancer.”

In-game, Mayo Clinic Cancer Center will be presented with a $10,000 grant from the Lynx FastBreak Foundation to support their efforts to understand the biology of cancer, to discover new ways to predict, prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, and to transform the quality of life for cancer patients today and in the future. The Lynx will also honor Marti Madden, a breast cancer survivor and peer mentor at the Firefly Sisterhood, at center court.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as the first 5,000 fans in the door Sunday night will receive a pink Lynx drawstring backpack presented by Mayo Clinic.
