Lynx Set Up For Matchup With Mercury
After defeating the New York Liberty 101-94 on Saturday, the Phoenix Mercury have advanced to the semifinals in the 2016 WNBA Playoffs.
There waiting for them? The No. 1 seeded Minnesota Lynx.
There’s plenty of history here, of course. It’s safe to say, the Lynx don’t like the Mercury, and the Mercury don’t like the Lynx.

The teams have played three times this season and the Lynx are 3-0 in those matchups, but the teams haven’t played since June 7, which seems like forever ago.
The Mercury had a somewhat disappointing season, finishing 16-18, eighth in the league. When you have Brittney Griner, Penny Taylor and Diana Taurasi, that shouldn’t happen. But Phoenix has won five of its last six games, including two playoff wins.
No matter what happens in today’s game between the Sky and Dream, the Lynx will host the Mercury at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center. The game will air on ESPN2.
The full schedule for the semifinals:
Game 1: Wednesday, Sept. 28, 7 p.m., Xcel Energy Center, ESPN2
Game 2: Friday, Sept. 30, 7 p.m., Xcel Energy Center, ESPNews
Game 3: Sunday, Oct. 2, 4 p.m., Talking Stick Resort Arena, ESPN
Game 4 (if needed): Tuesday, Oct. 4, TBD, Talking Stick Arena, ESPN2
Game 5 (if needed): Thursday, Oct. 6, TBD, Target Center, ESPN2
We’ll have plenty of coverage throughout the next few days leading up to the game. Stay tuned.
