MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx tonight selected Rennia (reh-NYE-uh) Davis from the University of Tennessee in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2021 WNBA Draft. Davis becomes the fifth Tennessee alum drafted by the Lynx, joining Tonya Edwards (1999), Tasha Butts (2004), Nicky Anosike (2008) and Bashaara Graves (2016).
Davis, a 6-2 forward, played in 118 career games for the Lady Vols and posted averages of 15.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. As a senior, she averaged 17.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 24 games and garnered All-SEC First Team honors. She’s one of four players (along with Chamique Holdsclaw, Tamika Catchings and Candace Parker) to rank among Tennessee’s all-time top 10 in points (ninth, 1815), points per game (ninth, 15.4), rebounds (10th, 947) and rebounds per game (sixth, 8.1).
