In 2004, Osman took it upon herself to start her own program- Somali Girls Rock, a club that promotes hard work both on and off the field all the while counseling girls to become leaders in the community.

In 2011, Osman received the Virginia McKnight Binger Award- an unsung hero award for human services, and last month was honored by the Positive Coaching Alliance with the Coach of the Year Award.
