Lynx Help Pack Over 40,000 Pounds Of Food For Donation

It’s important during the holiday season to give back to the community—something that Danielle Robinson and the Lynx are well aware of.

In an annual partnership with the Lynx’s ‘Points for Pounds’ program, Land O’ Lakes pledged to donate 10 pounds of food to Second Harvest Heartland for every point the Lynx scored this season. When all was said and done, that totaled to nearly 27,000 pounds of food. However, Land O’ Lakes also donated an additional 13,000 pounds of food to bring the total to an even 40,000 pounds.

That much food requires a lot of packing. On Monday, Danielle Robinson and Lynx staff went to Second Harvest to help unload the food donation and pack up meal kits.

“Being able to help people spend time with their families enjoy time together, it’s really important,” said Robinson. “We’re given so much as professional athletes so it’s really important to give back.”

Their work at Second Harvest is not all the Lynx have planned for their ‘Week of Giving.’ They will also be wrapping presents, participating in a toy drive and hosting an advance screening of ‘Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse,’ with children in foster care or pre-adoptive placement. The week will conclude with Robinson helping serve meals at Simpson Housing Services.

The Lynx have always been a team that is very engaged and connected to their community, it’s great to see them getting into the holiday giving spirit.
