Lynx Forward Maya Moore Named Western Conference Player of the Week
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The WNBA today named Minnesota Lynx forward Maya Moore the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played June 18 through June 24. The Player of the Week award is Moore’s 18th of her career.
During the week, the 6-foot forward led the West in minutes with 34.3 per game and ranked second in the Western Conference in scoring with 22.3 ppg. She tied for sixth in assists (4.3 apg) and also ranked 11th in rebounding (5.3 rpg).
Minnesota did not trail in any of its three games on the week, going 3-0 to extend its winning streak to four and climb above .500 at 7-6. Moore led all scorers in each of the three contests, tallying 20+ points in all three to run her career total to 110 such games and overtake Seimone Augustus for the most in franchise history. She contributed 21 points, a season-high seven assists and three steals in the June 19 victory vs. Dallas, Minnesota’s 10th consecutive win over the Wings.
She added 23 points, six rebounds and a team-high five assists as the Lynx snapped Phoenix’ eight-game winning streak on June 22 at Talking Stick Resort Arena. Followed by a 23-point, six-rebound performance in the June 24 victory at Las Vegas. The Las Vegas game was the 250th of her career; the Lynx have won 189 of those (75.6%). She currently ranks eighth in the WNBA in scoring (18.8 ppg), fourth in steals (1.54 spg) and second in minutes (34.0 mpg).
Atlanta’s Angel McCoughtry was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
