Lynx Finalize 2022 Roster

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has set their 11-player roster ahead of the 2022 season.

The 2022 roster returns nine of the 13 players who finished on Minnesota’s 2021 active roster. Sylvia Fowles tops the seniority list, beginning her eighth season in a Lynx uniform. Fowles, the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year, will conclude her WNBA career this season after 15 years in the league. Other returning players to the roster include seven-year vet Damiris Dantas, 2019 WNBA Champion Aerial Powers, 2020 Team Canada Olympians Natalie Achonwa and Bridget Carleton, Minnesota’s own Rachel Banham, and Jessica Shepard.  The roster also features 2020 All-WNBA selection Napheesa Collier who is out due to pregnancy/childbirth and Kayla McBride who is currently playing overseas with Turkish club Fenerbahce.

The new faces joining the roster are highlighted by the offseason acquisition of 12-year veteran Angel McCoughtry and eight-year guard Odyssey Sims. McCoughtry, originally selected by the Atlanta Dream as the first overall pick in the 2009 WNBA Draft, is a five-time All-Star who has made three trips to the WNBA Finals (2010, 2011, 2013) among eight postseason appearances overall.  Sims returns to Minnesota where she spent two seasons, including arguably her best in 2019 where she earned All-WNBA Second Team honors and her first All-Star appearance.

The Lynx will tip-off their 24th WNBA season, presented by Mayo Clinic, at Seattle tonight Friday, May 6 at 9:00 p.m. CT. The Lynx return to Target Center for their home opener on Sunday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m. to take on the Washington Mystics.
